One Flower Wednesday

came about when I decided my Karen's Flower Garden quilt needed some tending.  It had been neglected for far too long.  Wednesday would be the day of the week that I would make at least one flower.  And, afternoon tea seemed like the perfect time to do so.  My plan stirred up some interest and soon gardeners from all over the world were rooting through their potting sheds, preparing and planting seeds that would soon grow into beautiful flowers.

If you would like to join our little Garden Party, the only requirement is to make at least one hexagon flower every Wednesday and post your progress at least once a month. Posting on a Wednesday would be ideal and make it easier for others to follow your progress.  My garden is now complete with a total of 105 flowers.

You can make your hexagon flowers any size or colour you like and you can even piece them together any way you like, but remember, they must be traditional hexagon flowers!  Please do not substitute other forms of hexagons, such as hexagon diamonds as flowers.  I would like to keep One Flower Wednesday as it was originally intended.  I am English paper piecing mine and would also like to try hand piecing some flowers one day.  Of course, this would require me to start another flower garden!

To become a Garden Party Member

Just place the lovely logo Valentina has designed for One Flower Wednesday on your sidebar and don't forget to use the Sign In Sheet on the weeks you are posting.

Hi Karen,
Like to join the Wednesday flower garden day.
Great idea, I love hexagons and the English paper piecing method. So I have to get the hexagons out of my closet, choose the fabrics, and will put it on my blog soon. Next Wednesday I will have my first flowers ready to show.

Oh my goodness Karen!!! Look at the list grow!!! I can't believe it went from a few messages back and forth about dedicating one day a week to working on them to this!!! :)Thank you so much for getting it started. Just look at the inspiration you have created! I probably would not have even started my garden yet if you had not started O.F.W.. Now I am addicted. Thanks also for the printable websites. I have been out of my papers and it sure would be easier to just print my own. I will go do that now. :) xo

Hi Karen - I would like to join your garden party. I am currently working on a "Grandmother's Flower Garden" and am using Mylar templates. I work on it while my husband is at PT and it is my "mental" therapy. My centers are all the same yellow flower print and my petals are all flowered fabric. My pathways are white and I've put 21 together so far - I was getting anxious to see how it would look - I've posted photos on my blog: www.quiltedscottie.blogspot.com. Hope I qualify to join your group -
